TWO YEARS IN PRISON FOR BATTERY OFFENCE

Prior to the passing of his sentence, Maynard pleaded with the Magistrate for leniency but the Magistrate showed no mercy. Maynard’s plea was on the grounds that he has a family and there was no one to fend for them adding that he didn’t mean to cut Pemberton. Magistrate Clarke said, “I do not believe he threatened you. Even if I were to accept he threatened you, you should not take the law into your hands. I am not going to charge you because you have appeared before me many times. I find you guilty.” He was sentenced to two years in prison.
