FINALISTS DETERMINED IN FINAL FOUR

The games to determine the finalists in the final four of the Local Football league, were played at the ET Willet Park on Sunday 5th March.

In game one, Youths of The Future upset the BA Stoney Grove Strikers with a scoreline of 2 goals to 1.

In match two, Hard Times came up against SL Horsfords Highlights and scored within the first five minutes of the game.

A constant drizzle did not prevent play and shortly thereafter, Highlights headed home from a corner kick to equalize.

At the half time whistle, they were in total control, with the score line 3 goals to 1 in their favour and being fully aware that Hard Times had to win by three clear goals, in order to qualify for the finals.

During the intense second half, the Highlights team scored another goal and Hard Times put in one of their own.

Make that 4 goals to 2 in favour of Highlights, at the final whistle.

It means therefore, that on Wednesday 8th March when the finals are scheduled for the ET Willet Park, BA Horsfords Highlights will take on the Youths of The future in the grand finale but prior to that, Hard Times will take on Stoney Grove in the match up for 3rd and 4th spots.

The action commences at 6.30 pm.

BEATERZ AND JAHBASS WIN GAMES IN VP LEAGUE

Another two thrilling matches were played in the Runako Morton VP league on Sunday 5th March.

The venue was the Hard Times playing field and quite a number of spectators were on hand in order to witness the action.

In match one, Beaterz team, complete with a number of top island players, came up against the Guyanese.

The Guyanese batted first and were off to a fair start with the score on 67 for no loss from 7 overs. However 67 for no loss, soon became 69 for 3 and they eventually managed 75 in total from their allotted 12 overs.

Beaterz, true to form, beat their way to the total in just 4 overs, for no loss,  with Adelvin Phillip and Kejel Tyson both scoring in the high 30’s.

In match two, Easterns engaged Jahbass’ team in another 12 overs affair.

The Jahbass team blazed their way to 104, with the in form, Tonito Willet, slamming 60.

Easterns in response could only manage 78.

Sunday 12th March will see two more games:

Fire Hall v Ole Skool and then

Poodle bar v BEATERZ

ATHLETICS

RED HOUSE PREVAILS AT ST. JAMES’ PRIMARY

The St. James’ Primary school held its annual sports meet on Monday 6th March at the school’s ground.

A fair sized crowd of parents and other family members was on hand to witness the children in action, on their big day.

The meet was held under the patronage of former student and athlete at the school, Mr. Shefton Daniel.

The athletes competed in the 400 meters; 200; 800; 100; 60 and 80 meters, along with a number of fun activities which include lime and spoon and sack race.

At the end of the meet, the final point standings was as follows:

Red house 262 points

Green house 250 points

Gold house 215 points
